Kyrillos I

Kyrillos I, also known as Cyril of Antioch, was a significant figure in the early Church, recognized for his steadfast leadership and devotion to the Christian faith. Born in Antioch in the early 5th century, he came from a prominent Christian family that played a crucial role in the development of Christian doctrine at the time. He became bishop of Antioch around 423 AD, during a challenging period when the Church faced numerous theological disputes and pressures from within and outside its ranks.

As a bishop, Kyrillos was a staunch defender of Nicene orthodoxy, emphasizing the importance of the Council of Nicaea’s definitions about the nature of Christ.
