Lanfranco Beccari

St. Lanfranco Beccari was born in Italy in 1255, into a family that valued piety and education. From a young age, he exhibited a deep commitment to God, regularly engaging in prayer and study. His early years were marked by a growing desire to serve the Lord, which led him to enter the Benedictine monastery of St. Peter in Cesena when he was just a teenager.

Lanfranco dedicated his life to the monastic community, embracing the rule of St. Benedict wholeheartedly. His humility and dedication were evident as he took on various responsibilities within the monastery, including that of a teacher, where he inspired many young monks with his personal example of virtue and faith. He became known not only for his scholarly abilities but also for his compassionate nature and willingness to help others.

In 1280, he was appointed as abbot of the monastery. Under his leadership, the community flourished as he emphasized the importance of prayer, community life, and service to the poor. Lanfranco was committed to reforming his community, ensuring that the monks lived a life that was true to the spirit of the Benedictine rule.
