Laura Evangelista Alvarado Cardozo

St. Laura Evangelista Alvarado Cardozo was born on March 15, 1875, in the coastal town of La Guaira, Venezuela. From a young age, she showed a deep dedication to her faith and a profound love for education. Her family, devout and involved in the Church, recognized her spiritual inclinations and encouraged her to pursue a religious vocation.

After completing her education, Laura joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. She took her religious vows in 1893, which marked the beginning of her devoted life to God and service. Her commitment to education was evident throughout her life; she became a teacher and played an essential role in establishing schools for girls in various parts of Venezuela. Laura's compassionate nature and strong belief in the power of education transformed countless lives, providing young women with the tools they needed to succeed and thrive.

She dedicated herself to teaching not only academics but also spiritual formation, instilling values of love, kindness, and faith in her students. Laura was known for her gentle demeanor but also for her unwavering dedication to her mission.
