Malo

Born in the 6th century in Wales, St. Malo is celebrated as a significant figure in the early Christian church. He belonged to a prominent family, likely linked to the royal descent of the Britons, which positioned him within an influential context during a time of great tribal migrations and religious developments. From a young age, Malo was drawn to a life of faith, often described as having a fervent spirit and a deep dedication to God.

His journey as a missionary brought him across the sea to Brittany, an area populated by Celtic people who were receptive to the Christian faith. Malo took refuge on an island off the coast, where he established a monastic community. This location would later become known as Saint-Malo, named after him. His commitment to prayer, study, and communal living laid the groundwork for the spiritual life of the area, attracting followers and fellow monks who were inspired by his example.

Throughout his life, Malo faced numerous challenges and hardships typical of a missionary in a turbulent time. Yet, he remained steadfast in his mission.
