Maravillas de Jesús, born on March 4, 1891, in the small town of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain, was a remarkable figure in the realm of Catholic spirituality. Baptized as María de los Ángeles, she grew up in a devout family that instilled in her a deep love for God from an early age. As a child, she displayed a profound sensitivity to the presence of God, often spending hours in prayer and contemplation. Her early religious experiences set the stage for a life dedicated to the service of God and the Church.

In 1910, at the age of 19, Maravillas felt a strong calling to the religious life. She entered the Discalced Carmelite convent in the outskirts of Madrid, taking the name "Maravillas de Jesús," which reflected her desire to live in close union with Christ. In 2003, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II, a testament to her virtuous life and the impact she had on the Church.
