Maria Angela Picco was born on January 2, 1741, in the small town of Teramo, Italy. At the age of 18, Maria Angela felt a calling to religious life. She joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity, founded by St. Vincent de Paul. In 1763, after completing her formation, she took her vows and began her mission as a teacher and caretaker.

Maria Angela dedicated her life to educating underprivileged children. She opened a school in Teramo that provided not only academic instruction but also moral and spiritual formation.
