María del Pilar Cimadevilla López-Dóriga was born on October 22, 1896, in the small town of Valdeón in Spain. From a young age, she exhibited an unyielding faith and a desire to serve God that would shape her entire life. After completing her education, María felt a strong calling to religious life. At the age of 23, she joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Saint Marc, dedicating herself to teaching and caring for children in various parishes. Her passion for teaching was tied to her desire to help shape a generation that embodied the virtues of love, compassion, and faith.
