Mariano de la Mata

St. Mariano de la Mata was born in Spain in 1482. From a young age, he felt a strong calling to serve God, leading him to join the Augustinian Order. After completing his studies and taking vows, he developed a deep commitment not only to monastic life but also to the missionary work that would come to define his life.

In the early 16th century, Mariano's fervor for evangelization led him to the New World, where he arrived in Mexico around 1526.
