Saint Maurus

Saint Maurus was born in the late 5th century in Italy, a time of significant upheaval following the fall of the Roman Empire. Although not much is definitively known about his early life, it is believed that Maurus came from a noble background. His spiritual journey took a transformative turn when he met St. Benedict of Nursia, the founder of Western monasticism. Inspired by Benedict’s call to a life of prayer and community, Maurus became one of his first disciples, fully committing himself to the monastic way of life.
