Paul Favre-Miville

Paul Favre-Miville was born on December 31, 1815, in the small village of Chabrillan, France. From a young age, he exhibited a deep faith and a strong desire to serve God and his community. His family, although modest, instilled in him the values of hard work and devotion, which would guide him throughout his life.

After completing his education, Paul entered the seminary, where he dedicated himself to his studies and spiritual formation. He was ordained a priest on July 4, 1840. Following his ordination, Paul was assigned to various parishes, where he quickly became known for his deep compassion, patience, and commitment to pastoral care. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life endeared him to his parishioners and established him as a beloved figure within the community.

In 1844, he became the parish priest of Saint-Antoine in Orléans, where he implemented several programs aimed at uplifting the parish community. He emphasized the importance of education and worked tirelessly to ensure that the children of the parish received proper catechesis and schooling. Amidst the challenges of parish life, including limited resources and conflicts, Paul remained resolute, advocating for the needs of his flock and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation among them.

In recognition of his life and contributions, Paul Favre-Miville was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 3, 1985. His feast day is celebrated on May 8, allowing the Church to honor his memory and continue to draw inspiration from his dedication to the priesthood and community service. His story serves as a reminder of the grace and commitment found in living a life devoted to God and others.
