Rafael Cordero

Rafael Cordero was born on December 23, 1790, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to a family of modest means. His father was a Spanish soldier, and his mother was a free Black woman of African descent, which placed him in a unique position within the complex social fabric of Puerto Rico at the time.
