Riccardo Pampuri

St. Riccardo Pampuri was born on March 2, 1900, in the small village of Trivolzio, Italy. Growing up in a devout Catholic family, Riccardo exhibited deep compassion for others from a young age. His parents instilled in him a strong sense of faith and the importance of service, which would guide him throughout his life.

After completing his education, Riccardo pursued a career in medicine, enrolling at the University of Milan. His studies were marked by diligence and a strong ethical foundation, influenced by his faith. He graduated as a medical doctor in 1926 and began working in various hospitals, quickly earning a reputation for his warm bedside manner and tireless dedication to his patients.

Riccardo's approach to medicine was not solely academic; he viewed it as a spiritual vocation. He believed that healing the sick was a way to serve God and to live out Christ’s love for humanity. This deep integration of faith and profession resonated with his patients, many of whom were drawn to his kindness and sincerity. He was particularly dedicated to serving the poor and marginalized, often offering his services without charge.

In recognition of his outstanding service and virtuous life, Riccardo was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 3, 1984, and canonized on November 16, 1997. He is remembered not only as a healer but also as a saint who emphasized the importance of charity, compassion, and the sanctity of life.
