Robert Nutter

Robert Nutter was born in England in the late 16th century, likely around 1557, during a tumultuous period marked by the Protestant Reformation. He grew up in a deeply Catholic family and was inspired by the teachings of the Church. This early faith laid the groundwork for his future as a dedicated Dominican priest, where he embraced a life of prayer, study, and service to others.

After joining the Order of Preachers, or Dominicans, Robert Nutter became known for his fervent preaching and commitment to the Catholic faith, which was increasingly challenged during his time. In 1600, Robert was apprehended for his priesthood and for practicing his Catholic faith openly. He was charged with treason, a serious offense that reflected the government's intent to suppress Catholicism in England. During his imprisonment, he showed remarkable courage and steadfastness, refusing to renounce his faith despite the pressures placed upon him.

Robert Nutter stood trial, and his defense was marked by unwavering conviction. The court, however, was not sympathetic to his cause. In July 1600, he was sentenced to death for his beliefs, and on July 26, he was executed by hanging.
