Teofilo Camomot

St. Teofilo Camomot was born on March 3, 1914, in the Philippines and is celebrated for his deep commitment to pastoral service and the welfare of his parishioners. He was ordained a priest on December 8, 1941, amidst the tumultuous backdrop of World War II. His early years of ministry were marked by dedication and resilience, as he served the faithful under trying circumstances.

In 1964, he was appointed as the bishop of the Diocese of Dumaguete, a role he embraced with a spirit of humility and dedication. Bishop Camomot was known for his genuine care for the poor and his fervent dedication to evangelization. He traveled extensively throughout his diocese, often visiting remote areas to ensure that even the most marginalized had access to the sacraments and spiritual support. His pastoral approach was deeply rooted in the teachings of Christ, and he encouraged a strong sense of community among his flock.

Bishop Camomot's leadership also extended to education; he fostered the development of numerous schools within his diocese, understanding that faith formation was integral to the growth of the community.
