Theresa Kim Im-i

St. Theresa Kim Im-i was born in Korea in the early 1800s during a time of intense persecution of Christians in the region. From a young age, she was deeply influenced by her family's Catholic faith, which was rooted in the teachings and traditions brought by early missionaries. The Korean church was still in its infancy, facing external pressures from Confucian society and brutal crackdowns from the government against converts.

Despite the risks, she often visited imprisoned Christians, offering support and comfort during their times of trial. On September 20, 1846, St. Theresa Kim Im-i was executed, becoming one of the many martyrs in the Korean Church’s history. Her death was not in vain; it served as a powerful witness to the strength of faith, inspiring countless others to remain steadfast in their beliefs despite great peril.

After her martyrdom, her story spread among the Christian faithful, becoming a source of inspiration and strength.
