Theresa Yi Mae-im

Theresa Yi Mae-im was born in the late 18th century in Korea, a time when the practice of Christianity was fraught with danger and persecution. In 1839, during one of the harshest persecutions faced by Korean Christians, Theresa’s allegiance to her faith was put to the test. Authorities arrested many Christians, and she was among those captured. When questioned about her beliefs, she exhibited extraordinary courage. Rather than renounce her faith, Theresa remained steadfast, boldly affirming her commitment to Christianity. Her fearless witness was a profound testament to the transformative power of faith.
