Víctor Chumillas

St. Víctor Chumillas was born in Spain in the late 19th century, joining the Franciscan Order at a young age. From the beginning of his religious life, he demonstrated a deep commitment to service, embodying the Franciscan spirit of humility and charity. He dedicated his days to preaching the Gospel and serving the poor, often going beyond the boundaries of his local community to spread the message of Christ's love.

During a time of considerable social unrest in Spain, particularly during the Spanish Civil War, anti-religious sentiment grew significantly. In 1936, as tensions escalated, religious leaders and members of the clergy were increasingly targeted for persecution. Despite the dangers, St. Víctor remained steadfast in his commitment to his mission, tending to the spiritual needs of the faithful while also providing material assistance to those who suffered from poverty and violence.

His commitment to his faith ultimately led to his martyrdom. Following his refusal to renounce his beliefs, he was captured by forces aligned against the Church and faced considerable suffering for his steadfastness. On Nov 6, 1936, St. Víctor was killed for his unwavering faith, becoming one of many who laid down their lives during this harrowing period in Spain's history.
