Today’s reflection

Daily reflection

There are moments in life when we feel... almost too weary to carry on. Perhaps it's the weight of unanswered questions, or the quiet longing for something we can't quite name. We move through our days, burdened by the invisible. Yet in those moments, there's often a soft whisper... inviting us to pause, to listen, to be open.

In today's reading from Acts, we see Paul steadfastly journeying through Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening the disciples. He doesn't rush his work. Paul moves with purpose, yes, but also with patience and devotion. Each step he takes builds up the community, offering encouragement and support. How often do we, in our hurried lives, forget the simple power of presence? To just be there for others, without the need for immediate answers.

Then, there's Apollos. An eloquent man, passionate and knowledgeable... yet he humbles himself to learn from Priscilla and Aquila. This humility and openness are vital. How many of us struggle with wanting to appear as if we have everything figured out? Yet Apollos shows us the grace of being teachable, of allowing others to guide us more deeply into truth.

Reflecting on this, I think of the gentle wisdom often hidden in ordinary encounters. Priscilla and Aquila had the courage to speak and Apollos, the grace to listen. What a beautiful harmony of friendship and learning, a dance of teaching and receiving. We are reminded that the path to God... is always shared.

Jesus' words in today's Gospel invite us into a similar space of openness and trust. "Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete." It's an invitation not just to ask for our needs, but to trust that our deepest desires, the ones aligned with love, are heard.

The assurance that the Father loves us, that our asking is met with divine joy, fills the quiet spaces of doubt. Our prayers need not be perfect, only earnest. Jesus speaks of a time when we would no longer need figures of speech, a time for clear revelation. Yet even now, in our uncertainty, the Father's love is unwavering.

I invite you to consider... what is it you truly need to ask for today? Not just in words, but from the core of your being. Where does your deepest longing meet the heart of God? It's in those moments, when we lay down our pretense and offer our barest, humblest selves, that grace flows.

As we journey with these scriptures, let us carry a tender awareness of those around us who also walk under burdens unseen. Perhaps someone needs our encouragement, our patience, our willingness to listen more closely. In their story, we might hear echoes of our own.

As we find rest in this reflection, may we hold onto the truth that we are not alone. We journey together, strengthened by love, courage, and gentle wisdom. May our spirits be lifted, and our joys made complete as we ask in His name... and trust that we are deeply loved.
