Today’s reflection

In the quiet of our own lives, we often find ourselves returning to familiar places...places where memories dwell like shadows on the walls. It might be a childhood home...or maybe it's simply the solitude of our thoughts when the day's noise fades away.
Today, we meet the apostles returning to Jerusalem...to an upper room filled with prayer and waiting. I imagine the room held echoes of shared stories, of laughter, and the unique silence that follows loss. This return...it was not just physical but deeply spiritual.
In the Gospel, we hear Jesus lifting His eyes to heaven, speaking to the Father from a place of trust and intimacy. The words carry the weight of finality...and yet, the promise of glory. "Father, the hour has come..."
How often do we feel the weight of our own hours coming? Moments when life shifts...as if we're being drawn into something new, yet unknown. Can we pause...and allow ourselves to trust in that unfolding?
In the Acts of the Apostles, we see them devoted to prayer...together. Each person unique, yet in one accord. There's Mary...quietly present...her life a testament to enduring faith in the face of mystery.
And in the reading from Peter, we're reminded of the blessing found even in suffering. "Rejoice to the extent that you share in the sufferings of Christ..." Words that invite us to see beyond the immediate discomfort...to the glory woven into our struggles.
It can be difficult...can't it? To rejoice in what feels painful, to trust when the path is unclear. Yet in those moments, we are not alone. Like the apostles...we are called to gather together, to lean into prayer, and into the presence of those who walk beside us.
Jesus asks for glory, not just for Himself, but to glorify the Father...to bring life. It’s an invitation for us to see how our lives, in their simplicity...can be a reflection of divine glory.
Consider the possibility...that in the mundane, in the everyday tasks, we are invited to reveal God’s presence, in gentle words...in acts of kindness.
Perhaps today, we could take a moment of silence...to allow the Spirit to rest with us as it did with the first believers. Can we find a quiet corner in our hearts...a space where faith can grow amidst uncertainty?
As we go forward, let's embrace this shared journey. Like the apostles, may we unite in prayer, offering our own simple 'yes' to God amidst life's mysteries.
Trust that each step, though unknown, is held in the gentle hands of our Creator.
May we be at peace with where we are...finding rest in the knowledge that we are deeply loved...just as we are.
