Today’s reflection

Daily reflection

Sometimes we find ourselves standing on the edge between what is known and what is unknown...

contemplating the path that stretches out ahead, shrouded in mystery...

There is a certain quiet ache in these moments of transition... when we prepare to say goodbye to the familiar and step into the uncharted.

This is where we meet Paul today, as he stands with the presbyters of Ephesus...

on the threshold of the next chapter in his journey. His heart is full, having lived among them with deep sincerity. He speaks with the tender weight of someone who knows this is a farewell...

a moment pulled taut with love and the realization that they will not see his face again.

Paul’s words reveal a life poured out... offered wholly to God without reservation. He has faced tears and trials... yet with unwavering dedication, his mission was clear: to bear witness to the grace of God. There’s a striking freedom in how he talks about his life—it is not his own. He is not bound by fear of what awaits in Jerusalem, only compelled by the Spirit...

And then there is our Gospel today... Where Jesus raises His eyes to heaven, speaking intimately with the Father as His own hour arrives. 'The hour has come,' He says. There is a solemnity, a sacredness to these words, woven with peace and purpose. Jesus speaks of glory and eternal life, offering us a glimpse into the depth of His relationship with the Father. This is the heart of His mission: to bring us into this divine communion. And here, in this prayer, we see what it truly means to be sent—poured out in love, even unto the end.

We stand in awe at the demeanor of Jesus, who is centered, calm, and assured in the Father's love. As He prays, there is no doubt, only the serene trust that everything He has is of the Father. It’s an invitation... to enter this same trust and to sense God's presence woven through the fabric of our own lives.

Both Paul and Jesus model for us a profound letting go...

of control, of outcomes, and of personal ambitions. They step beyond fear and embrace their God-given mission with courage and clarity. It's a call... to live for something greater than ourselves.

In our own lives, we also face these thresholds... moments where we are called to let go. Perhaps it’s a change in our circumstances... the close of a chapter or the beginning of something new. Can we trust, as Paul did, that the Spirit guides us forward? Can we echo Jesus’ prayer, embracing God’s will and glory above all else?

Today, let us consider what it means to live our lives as offerings, no matter where we find ourselves. Perhaps, in some quiet part of your heart, there is a call to give... to serve... or to simply be present with love to those around you.

As you move through the rhythms of your day, pause to listen to the Spirit’s gentle whispers. Let your actions flow naturally from that deep abiding place of trust in God. And when the road feels uncertain... remember that you walk with Christ who has gone before you, leading you into life... eternal and full.

In this moment of stillness, may you find peace, and know that even in the unknown, you are held in the embrace of divine love.
