Today’s reflection

Daily reflection

There are moments in life when we feel caught in circumstances beyond our control... like Paul, held without clear resolution, waiting for something we cannot yet see.

Perhaps you've experienced this: the quiet restlessness of waiting for clarity... the silent prayer that rises when you’re uncertain of the next step. It's in these times... that life feels both still and anxious.

In today's first reading from Acts, we meet Paul in a situation where he is not only held prisoner... but also surrounded by confusion and misunderstanding. His accusers are unable to articulate their charges, yet there he stands, waiting for the machinery of justice to move. Paul is calm in his convictions... yet undoubtedly aware of the tension that surrounds him.

What strikes me is his sense of faith amidst the chaos. It's as if he understands... that his life is not only in the hands of the Empire, but more profoundly... in the hands of God. And so, he waits patiently... trusting that the path ahead will unfold.

In the Gospel, we find another kind of waiting... a different tension. It's Simon Peter who faces questions not about law... but about love. As Jesus asks him, "Do you love me?" not once, but three times... we glimpse Peter's distress. It's not easy to be questioned on the depth of his heart, especially by the One he has sworn to follow.

Yet, in each question, there is an invitation... an invitation to a deeper understanding of love, a call to serve beyond his fears and failures. "Feed my sheep," Jesus urges... planting seeds of purpose in Peter’s heart.

How often do we, too, feel Jesus asking us... quietly, persistently, "Do you love me?" These questions challenge us not only to affirm our affection but also to live it out... in the very real moments of our lives.

There is a tenderness in Peter's journey... a sign of the intimate relationship Jesus seeks with each of us. It is not a path of perfect strength, but one of authentic growth.

Perhaps today, take a moment to sit with these questions. Feel their gentle probing in your heart. "Do you love me?"... What might it mean for you to tend the sheep in your life, to nurture the relationships entrusted to your care?

As we ponder this, consider one small way you can embody this love today. It could be a simple gesture, a word of encouragement, or a shared silence with someone who needs your presence. Let this action be your "yes" to Christ's call.

In the waiting, in the questions, and in the gentle invitations... we find our path to God’s presence. Let us rest in that grace, trusting that in His love, all will be revealed in time.

May you feel accompanied by His peace today, knowing that each step—whether firm or faltering—is leading you closer to Him.
