August
August is crowned by the Assumption — Our Lady taken up, body and soul, into heaven. The month also keeps the Transfiguration, the Queenship of Mary, and Augustine with his mother Monica.
August’s great days are Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Aug 15).

Keeping August at home
The Assumption is a holy day of obligation and the high Marian feast of summer — in many places kept with the blessing of herbs and flowers, and a festive table in Our Lady’s honor.
Late August brings St. Monica and her son St. Augustine on back-to-back days — a quiet encouragement for every parent who prays, with patience, for a child.
