Act Of Contrition, Hope And Confidence Before Holy Communion

O Jesus, beloved companion of my soul, the moment I have awaited is approaching; the joyous moment when I, your unworthy servant, shall receive the most Holy Sacrament of Your Body and Blood, the ultimate remedy for all my afflictions. In love for You, I sorrow deeply for each of my sins and for every oversight that has offended Your gentle goodness and sullied my soul, which You redeemed with Your precious Blood. How can I dare to receive You within a heart entangled in the thorns and briars of earthly desires, filled with the foul vapors of worldliness and trivial ambitions? Yet, my merciful Jesus, although my soul is unwell, I hold onto the words that came from Your gracious lips, reminding me that it is not the healthy who need the healer, but the sick, and this grants me confidence. Indeed, my Lord, if any should rely on You, it is I! While others may lean on their innocence or virtues, my only refuge is Your mercy, Your great mercy alone. Though I have rendered myself undeserving of it, when have You ever treated me according to my just deserts? Where would I find myself now if not for mercy's hand? Good Jesus, Who welcomed the blind, the lame, the impoverished, and the broken-hearted to Your feast, I, as one of them — the most destitute and sorrowful — approach the sacred table of Your Body and Blood, the banquet designated for angels, not with arrogance, but with a remorseful and humble heart, with gentle confidence, with hope in Your goodness and love, reciprocating all Your kindness with fervent intent to please You, to henceforth live in accordance with Your Spirit, and to emulate the virtues of Your Sacred Heart, that I may eternally praise and honor You.Amen.
