Easter Monday Prayer

devotional
The prayer

Father: Christ has risen, Alleluia. Family: He is truly risen, Alleluia. Father: Let us pray. O God, through this Easter celebration, You have granted the world Your healing grace; we implore You to shower Your heavenly gifts upon Your people, that we may attain perfect freedom and secure eternal life. Through Christ our Lord. Family: Alleluia, Alleluia. Father: And behold, two of them journeyed on the same day to a village named Emmaus, which was about sixty furlongs from Jerusalem, and they conversed with each other about all that had occurred. As they spoke and deliberated, Jesus Himself drew near and walked with them. But their eyes were constrained so that they could not recognize Him, and He asked them: What are you discussing as you walk along, and why are you so downcast? One of them, named Cleopas, replied: Are you the only visitor in Jerusalem who is unaware of the events that have taken place in recent days? He asked: What events? They replied: Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful in deeds and words before God and all the people; how our chief priests and leaders handed Him over to be condemned to death and crucified Him. But we had hoped that He was the one to redeem Israel. And now, this is the third day since these things occurred. Furthermore, some women from our group astounded us; they went to the tomb early and, finding His body missing, returned saying they had seen a vision of angels who declare He is alive. Some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but Him they did not find. Then He said to them: O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared. Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and then enter into His glory? Beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He explained to them what was written in all the Scriptures about Himself. [Luke 24:13-27]
